Get to know David

David Cheung is a contemporary artist who sees structure where others see chaos.

Born in Denmark but based in Malmö, Sweden – in the heart of Scandinavian design culture – David Cheung creates his detailed works.

Through his detailed ink drawings, he creates entire worlds – cities, creatures and symbols – in a perfect balance between darkness and control.

Drawing has always been his language.

As a child, words were difficult, but lines made sense. Each stroke became a way of creating order in the overwhelming – a quiet language amidst the noise.

After a period of exhaustion, David returned to the pen and found his way back to seeing.

What started as recovery grew into a style of its ownshaped outside of schools and conventions, driven by thousands of hours in front of paper and an almost obsessive focus on precision.

His work captures both madness and precision – a reflection of life itself.

Each drawing is its own universe where chaos finds symmetry and calm takes shape.

"In a world that never stops, I want to give people worlds to lose themselves in."

—David Cheung

I have an autistic son who was born the year this art was created. It's a daily reminder of how beautiful his brain is and symbolizes the magic it's able to create. It's my favorite piece of artwork in my home.
